The Structure of a Gendentity™

The first attribute (character), “Birth Gender,” is essential for historical and legal reasons. It refers to the sex assigned at birth based on biological characteristics. Subsequent attributes allow for the expression of gender identity, expression, hormonal status, and anatomical sex, offering a more nuanced and personalized representation of one’s gender.

For Most People

Birth

NOTHING CHANGES! – If you’re happy with the gender you were assigned at birth (male or female), then you simply use “M” or “F” as your Gendentity. No further attributes are needed.

Male

Female

IntersexIntersex Intersex people are born with sex characteristics that do not fit typical binary notions of male or female bodies. Use an I for "Intersex".

Intersex

Most people will simply use one attribute: “M” for male or “F” for female. This straightforward approach maintains the traditional gender binary.

Example:

Male – declare you gender or Gendentity as: M

Female – declare you gender or Gendentity as: F

For Those Exploring Non-Binary or Genderfluid Identities

Birth

Identity

Expression

Many people choose to use three attributes to express their gender identity:

  1. Birth Gender: This indicates the sex assigned at birth.
  2. Gender Identity: This reflects your internal sense of self.
  3. Gender Expression: This indicates how you choose to present your gender.

You can use “X” for any attribute (except Birth Gender) if you prefer not to disclose that information.

A helpful way to remember the sequence is: “I was Born to Identify and Express myself!”

Female

If you identify as non-binary or something other than the sex assigned at birth, you can add a second and/or third attribute to specify:

  • Gender Identity: How you identify yourself internally.
  • Gender Expression: How you choose to present your gender externally.

You can use “X” for any attribute (except Birth Gender) if you prefer not to disclose that information.

  • Use a C for “Complex” when you have a multifaceted or evolving gender identity.
  • Use a V for “Variable (Fluid)” when your gender expression changes over time.
  • Use an X for “Undisclosed” when you want to keep that aspect of your Gendentity private.

Anatomical

For those who have undergone or are planning to undergo gender transition, you may choose to add two additional attributes:

  • Anatomical Sex: To specify your current anatomical sex.
  • Hormonal Status: To indicate whether you’ve undergone hormone therapy.

You can use “X” for any attribute (except Birth Gender) if you prefer not to disclose that information.
